Learning Journey to Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore (HMGICS)- Beyond the Future

Students from the ACEs programme visited the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore (HMGICS) to explore how cutting-edge technologies such as AI, robotics, and digital twin systems are transforming the future of smart and sustainable mobility manufacturing.
Students from the ACEs programme recently visited the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore (HMGICS), an inspiring facility that brings together innovation in manufacturing, digital transformation, and sustainable living under one roof. The visit gave students a firsthand look at how cutting-edge technologies are shaping the future of mobility and food production in Singapore.
One of the highlights of the trip was the Factory Virtual Reality (VR) Tour, where students were immersed in a 3D experience of HMGICS's highly automated and modular smart factory. Through the tour, they discovered how AI, robotics, and digital twin technologies power the production of the IONIQ lineup of electric vehicles, offering a glimpse into the future of smarter and more connected manufacturing.
Students also had the opportunity to explore HMGICS's two vertical smart farms, which demonstrate how robotics and automation can strengthen Singapore's food security by ramping up local agricultural production. The farms highlighted the importance of reducing reliance on food imports and lowering the carbon footprint associated with shipping, showing students that technology can play a meaningful role in building a more sustainable future.
The visit concluded with an exhilarating ride on the Skytrack, Singapore's only rooftop driving track, where students experienced the thrilling driving dynamics of electric vehicles made right here in Singapore. It was an exciting and memorable way to appreciate the real-world capabilities of locally produced EVs.
The learning journey to HMGICS was a valuable experience that broadened students' understanding of how innovation, sustainability, and technology come together to address real-world challenges. It inspired them to think critically about the role they can play in shaping a smarter and more sustainable world.
