Celebrating Our People, Our Tapestry on Racial Harmony Day
Lakeside Primary School commemorated Racial Harmony Day through a series of engaging activities centred on this year's theme, Our People, Our Tapestry. The programme encouraged students to appreciate Singapore's rich multicultural heritage while deepening their understanding of the importance of empathy, respect and inclusivity in our diverse society.
Students began the day with an interactive assembly performance, Memphis and the Mask, which explored the value of standing up for others and embracing differences. Back in their classrooms, students participated in level-specific FTGP lessons and interactive activities that encouraged them to learn about different cultures, appreciate diverse perspectives and reflect on how they can contribute to a harmonious school community. During English lessons, students further explored the theme through the Hot Seat: A Walk in My Shoes activity, which promoted empathy by encouraging them to see situations from another person's perspective.
Through these meaningful learning experiences, our students were reminded that while we may come from different backgrounds, we can continue to learn, grow and thrive together as one united community.
