RVHS – Sustainable Eating Starts with Me
17 August 2026
Student Leaders from Primary 4 and 5 took part in two hands-on sustainability programmes led by RVHS Global Scholars, exploring food security and sustainable eating through interactive activities and team challenges.
Our student leaders recently participated in two engaging sustainability programmes organised by the RVHS Global Scholars Programme teams – “Every Bite Counts Carnival” for Primary 4 students and “Sustainable Eating Starts with Us” for Primary 5 students.
The events aimed to deepen students’ understanding of food security, sustainable living and the impact of everyday food choices. Through hands-on activities, students explored how simple actions can contribute to a more sustainable future.
At the “Every Bite Counts Carnival”, students rotated through five interactive stations, identifying locally grown food, choosing less visually perfect produce, managing a sustainable supermarket budget and upcycling food packaging. At “Sustainable Eating Starts with Us”, students worked in teams across six escape-room stations, solving challenges to collect codes and complete the escape.
A key highlight was seeing students collaborate, communicate and persevere while tackling authentic challenges. One student remarked, “I didn’t know that small choices, like the food we buy, could make such a big difference.” The experiences made sustainability meaningful, memorable and relevant to everyday life.
