Taman Jurong National Day Carnival
2 August 2026
Lakeside Primary School comes together to honour Singapore's National Day with a vibrant celebration featuring a colour community mural display.
This year's National Day Carnival was a celebration of community, identity, and what it means to truly go beyond. Anchored in the school's vision of nurturing every Laker into an empathetic leader who serves with LPRIDE, the carnival brought together students, staff, parents, and community partners in a shared expression of pride for school and nation.
Students collaborated to create a vibrant mural inspired by Taman Jurong's heritage — from the greenery of Jurong Lake Gardens and the flower shapes of Taman Jurong Green to the iconic diamond-shaped HDB blocks. Through artist statement recordings, students also shared what "going beyond" means to them — picking up litter, caring for the elderly, and supporting those with disabilities. To our Lakers, going beyond means leading with heart and making a positive difference close to home.
The carnival was graced by Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education, and the Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, as well as Mr Shawn Huang, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Finance & Ministry of Manpower; Adviser to West Coast – Jurong West GRC Grassroots Organisations, who mingled warmly with our students.
Spirits were high as students hunted for the colourful mural they each had a hand in creating, and community partners were full of praise for the quality of work put in by our Lakeside family.
Taman Jurong is our home — and together, we take charge and go beyond to make a positive difference in this place we call Home.
